Internet of Things (IoT): Concepts to Implementation

Course Objectives

The Internet of Things (IoT) is everywhere. It provides advanced data collection, connectivity, and analysis of information collected by computers everywhere (sensor networks)—taking the concepts of Machine-to-Machine communication farther than ever before. This course gives a foundation in the Internet of Things, including the components, tools, and analysis by teaching the concepts behind the IoT and a look at real-world solutions. This course helps to learn to specify, design and program modern connected electronic systems based on commodity smart devices and sensor networks.

Learning Outcomes

After attending the course, the participants:

  • Will be able to understand the definition and significance of the Internet of Things
  • Will be able to understand the architecture, operation, and business benefits of an IoT solution
  • Will be able to examine the potential business opportunities that IoT can uncover
  • Will be able to explore the relationship between IoT, cloud computing, and big data
  • Will be able to identify how IoT differs from traditional data collection systems
  • Will be able to understand the Sensor networks and applications
  • Will be able to explore Arduino, Node MCU (ESP 8266), Raspberry Pi, MX- Chip Dev Kit (Microsoft) and Arm-based SoCs.
  • Will be able to explore different types of cloud platform like IBM Watson, AWS, MS Azure, ThingSpeak etc.
  • Will be able to develop and demonstrate IoT application to solve real world problems.
  • Will be able to understand integration of IoT and Machine Learning.
